StandX Ends Operations and Cancels Planned Token Launch

Key Insights

  • There was no linkage between user growth and sustainability. StandX managed to pull in more than 237,000 users and $200 million in peak TVL but failed to achieve the ranking goals.
  • The airdrop is for all intents and purposes, speculative token issuance. StandX intends to sell the remaining shares without any lockups using the proceeds of the sale and the founders’ contributions.
  • January deadlines from users are essential. The closing of positions starts on January 15, 2027 and the deadline for withdrawing and/or redemption is January 31, 2027.

Based on a business review announced on October 15, StandX will wind up its decentralized perpetual futures exchange and also cancel its planned token launch. Founded by former Binance Futures chief Aaron Gong and industry veterans, the platform will award DUSD to its eligible users as it aims to shut down by January 2027.

With its mainnet launch in November 2025, StandX has already gathered over 237,000 users and reached total value locked of over $200 million at its peak. However, Gong said the project fell short of its ambition to rank among the industry’s three leading platforms. The team will now prioritize user withdrawals and an orderly shutdown.

StandX introduces trading restrictions

StandX began winding down its services on October 15 by ending yield distributions and referral commissions. The affected programs include DUSD yield, position yield and community maker yield. The platform will also stop accepting new vault creations and deposits.

On October 20, perpetual futures markets will enter reduce-only mode. Traders can close or reduce existing positions but cannot open new positions or increase their exposure. StandX will also end new registrations, DUSD minting, Block Trades and Block Options.

However, existing reserved Block Options can still be exercised before expiry. Deposits will remain available for margin top-ups during the transition.

By January 15, 2027, StandX will cancel outstanding orders and automatically close remaining positions at prevailing mark prices. The exchange will also settle its SLP Vault, Community Strategy Vault and Community Shield Vault using their final net asset values.

DUSD airdrop replaces planned token launch

StandX will abandon its planned token generation event and distribute DUSD instead. Gong said the project could issue a token but questioned whether doing so would deliver lasting value to its community.

According to Odaily, Gong argued that launching a token primarily to benefit from short-term speculation could place the costs on users. He will contribute personal funds alongside the project’s remaining surplus to finance the airdrop.

StandX said most revenue generated during its operations had already reached users through its SIP-2 and SIP-3 reward programs. However, the team has not disclosed the total airdrop allocation or individual distribution amounts.

Users can check their eligibility from October 26 at 00:00 UTC. Claims open on November 1 at 00:00 UTC and close on December 31 at 08:00 UTC. Unclaimed allocations will expire after the deadline.

Eligible users can claim DUSD through their existing StandX wallet addresses on BNB Chain or Solana. Allocation calculations will consider pre-deposits, Alpha participation, mainnet trading, market making and referrals. StandX will also review claims for Sybil activity and wash trading, with the right to adjust suspicious allocations.

Withdrawal deadlines and DUSD liquidity

StandX says DUSD remains fully collateralized and users can withdraw their assets during the shutdown. The team also reported no fund security incidents throughout the platform’s operating history.

Users must transfer funds from their Perps Wallet to their Cash Wallet before withdrawing them to an on-chain address. Those seeking to redeem DUSD for USDT must submit requests through the official portal by January 31, 2027.

StandX has a 7‑day redemption window that ends on February 7 for all requests. Even though the withdrawal window closes by the end of January any balances left will still belong to their owners. If you still need to access funds after that date you must reach out to StandX customer support.

Meanwhile StandX plans to take out its DUSD liquidity from PancakeSwap and Raydium on January 31. Liquidity providers should therefore set up their exits before this scheduled removal.

The StandX team has warned users about airdrop links and messages that ask for private keys, seed phrases or payments. Eligible participants should rely on official StandX project channels, for shutdown updates and claim information.

Shutdown reflects challenges facing DEXs

The cryptocurrency exchange StandX is among those that have announced today they will be closing their doors during 2026. The perpetual futures exchange was part of the Satori Finance platform, but the company decided it could no longer sustain it due to revenue. The platform had already seen over $134 billion of trading volume and $10 million of total funds raised.

In June, Loopring’s decentralized exchange and automated market maker was shut down due to limited adoption and business challenges. Odos Protocol also closed down its decentralized exchange aggregator in July, but the developers did not specify its reason.

These shutdowns are indicative of the money problems of decentralized traders. User numbers and trading volumes, and liquidity do not always lead to long-term gains.

The first thing on StandX’s list of priorities is to fulfill its airdrop timeline and return of assets as outlined in the published schedule. The cancellation of its token launch also indicates a departure from speculative token issuance to a reckoning. Please be aware that users can only manage their positions, withdrawals and DUSD redemption requests within the announced deadlines.
